There are 3 things I would have done differently in my baseball career if I could go back.

Today I want to save you time by not making the same mistakes I did.

Let's begin.

1. Play less games

My issue wasn't in game performance.

I could throw strikes, get hitters out, and had a high baseball IQ.

But I was undersized and didn't have the necessary tools for the next level.

I would have spent more time on getting stronger in the weight room and gaining weight.

2. Focused more on velocity

The truth was velo held me back from some of my goals. I was a crafty lefty that was told “the velocity will come”.

It never did until I realized you have to actually do the work it requires.

To throw harder, strength and weight gain would have been the primary focus. I was 5’10” and 140 pounds at 16!

I lifted weights but wasn't doing the things I should have been.

It really didn't need to be complicated. Get really strong at squatting, deadlifting, and pressing.

Instead I did 3x15 lat pulldowns and leg extensions.

Working hard isn't enough. You need to work hard on the right things.

3. Taken school more serious

I was a poor student.

I didn't put in the effort and my grades reflected that.

I had the delusion that if I was good at baseball it didn't matter.

I was wrong.

I was limited on college opportunities as a result.

Don't make the same mistakes I did.

1. Play less games

2. Develop your weaknesses

3. Get good grades

That's all for today.

See you next week!
