Stop focusing on your mechanics

Mar 24, 2025

If you are a pitcher that wants to:

  • Increase velocity
  • Improve mechanics
  • Understand how to optimize your pitch arsenal
  • Be educated on exactly what you need to improve your game

Camps are limited to 5 players to maximize the value for each camper.

I am also adding the opportunity to train with me for an additional 5 days after the camp (does not have to be immediately after the camp).

Join me in Phoenix, Arizona this summer for a 3-day pitching camp like you've never experienced.

Camp Dates:

June 6th-8th

August 1st-3rd

When a pitcher loses feel for the zone, they often think the reason is their mechanics.

While this can be the issue in some cases, I think pitchers spend way too much time worrying about them.

Especially in season and even worse, during a game.

Don't get me wrong, I think your mechanics matter a lot and will impact consistency and pitch movement.

But, I think when it is your default solution to solve every issue, you're in trouble.

I am a big believer in focusing more on your mindset, visualization, and aggressiveness in game.

The body is 10x more likely to accomplish what you want when your mind is focused on the right things.

You can throw strikes without "perfect" mechanics. You can dominate a game without "perfect" mechanics.

Keep your cues external and feed your mind what you are going to do.

"Attack the inside corner with this fastball"

"Aggressive over the plate"

"Changeup down and away, let's go!"

To take it a step further, you have to be a little delusional on the mound. You should believe you are the best player on the field and that you are going to dominate.

I don't care who is stepping in the box, I am about to embarrass him.

I am not saying to vocalize this to players and to disrespect people. This is all in your mind to build confidence and feed yourself an aggressive attitude.

You can't play this game timid and doubting yourself.

Play with a chip on your shoulder and ATTACK batters. Your body will follow what you tell yourself. If you pitch timid or worry about anything other than how I am going to get this batter out on this very pitch, you are setting yourself up for failure.

My challenge to you for next game is try to get the batter out with every pitch you throw.

0-0 count, I am making you swing the bat so you can go back to the dugout on 1 pitch.

You took the pitch? Great, now it's 0-1 and I have another opportunity to get you out.

Give up a hit? So what. Now I am going to get a ground ball for a double play.

Feed yourself what you want to happen.

I hope this encouraged you to keep going and to believe in yourself. You have what it takes to dominate. It start with having the right mindset.

Let's get to work.

See you next week!
