Sometimes a powerful way to learn is to see things through the lens of what you DON'T want to do.

Today, I want to show you 3 things I see players do that hinder their performance on the mound.

The sad part is all 3 of these things are within the players control.

Lets dive in.

1. Ride the mental rollercoaster

If you are pitching good, everything is good!

If you are pitching bad, everyone knows by your attitude and demeanor alone.

Riding this rollercoaster is exhausting.

Over the course of a season there will be ups and down.

Learn from the mistakes and learn from the successes.

There’s wisdom to be gained from both.

2. Only work hard when you feel like it

Does the day, your previous performance, or the way you feel determine how hard you work?

When you are pitching well do you think you don’t need to work as hard?

The best in the game are the same person everyday.

They have a plan and they follow through.

Don’t let the circumstances around you determine how hard you work.

3. Blame others when things don’t go well

When things don’t go well, do you take ownership?

Or do you blame your coaches?

The umpires?

Your team?

Focus on what you have control over.

3 ways to make sure you DO perform your best:

  1. Stay level headed
  2. Be consistent with your work
  3. Take ownership of your performance

These things aren't easy, but they will bring more success than you can imagine.

That's all for today.

See you next week!
